Celebrate West gate mall hero Abdul Hajji has been declared the duly elected Garissa County Senator by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) after he emerged the only aspirant for the post that was left vacant by his father Yusuf Hajji.
In a statement sent to newsrooms on Tuesday April 6th, the electoral commission confirmed Hajji's new post after a no contest race.
He was the only candidate who submitted application for the post.

Hajji was going for the Senatorial post under the ruling Jubilee party, after receiving massive support from political leaders in the country and across the country at large.
He will be the latest legislator to join the upper house after Machakoa Senator Agnes Kavindu of Wiper Movement Party clinched to power after a landslide victory in March 18th mini polls.
Hajji is a brother to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Noordin Hajji.
Mr. Abdul enters the books of Kenya history as among leaders elected unopposed as well as lawmakers who have joined power after close relatives lost their lives.
