Best indoor plants recommended by scientists

If you want to breathe fresh air at home, it seems the only reasonable option is to buy an air purifier to purify the air in your room.

However, buying an air purifier is expensive and can use more energy. Houseplants are more natural, inexpensive and have a higher healing effect, so they can replace air purifiers. So, invest in indoor plants that add color and freshness to your home.

1.Areca Palm:

The Areca Palm like all other plants is biologically designed to absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. What makes the Areca Palm unique is its ability to purify the atmosphere in which it is planted by eliminating harmful chemicals like formaldehyde, xylene, and toluene.

The Areca Palm needs regular watering and thrives in the filtered sun. Four shoulder-high plants should be sufficient for one human.

2. Snake Plant: This plant is also known by Mother-in-Law’s Tongue that is notable for producing oxygen at night and purifying air by removing benzene, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene, and toluene.

The Snake Plant grows well in the light of a window and needs weekly watering. Six to eight waist-level plants are recommended for an individual. These plants can produce enough oxygen to breathe normally in an air-tight room.

3. Aloe Vera: Aloe Vera is not only useful for its anti-inflammatory properties, which aid in the healing of wounds and the treatment of sunburn, but it also serves as an air purifier.

The amount of toxins in the room leads to the development of brown spots on the leaves and thrives well in a room that has enough light. It is known for removing harmful toxins such as formaldehyde.

4. Money Plant: The Money Plant is known for its ability to eliminate benzene, formaldehyde, xylene, and toluene from the air.

Despite its high purification quality, this plant is poisonous to cats, dogs, and small children if the leaves are eaten. Money Plants prefer indirect light and should be watered once or twice a week. Three 18-inch plants are suggested for a single individual.

5. Pineapple Plant: According to a study, though pineapple plants don't remove any pollutants from the air, NASA claims that they "produce oxygen and improve air quality at night, which can improve sleep quality and reduce snoring.

These plants are very hardy and can grow with very little water, but they are not resistant to frost and cold.
