Ruto was not among the guests present in the State House today during international Labour Day celebrations. Among the national leaders present were the COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli and Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka. The format of the national holiday celebration has greatly changed since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. A celebration that was used to be hosted at national stadiums is currently limited to a few attendees to observe the Covid-19 health protocols.
It is not the first time Ruto missed an official function at State House since the claims of the fallout within the Jubilee party started. Today the most notable address was from President Uhuru Kenyatta and Francis Atwoli who is also concerned with workers affair. It is not yet clear why the Deputy President missed, maybe it is about the differences seen within the ruling party.
President has also gone ahead to review the previous cessation of movement and curfew orders. Today's President's orders in unlocking the zoned areas have excited Kenyans.
