Mashujaa day is a public holiday that is always celebrated on 20th October every year. This holiday was originally known as Kenyatta day and it was introduced in Kenya in 1963 after Kenya gained its independence. Yesterday marked the 58th celebration of the holiday where president Uhuru Kenyatta led the celebrations at the Wang'uri stadium in Kirinyaga county hosted by Governor Anne Waiguru.
Alongside president Uhuru Kenyatta, there were other leaders that included Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, Deputy president William Samoei Ruto, Amani National Congress party leader, Musalia Mudavadi and Malawi president Lazarus Chakwera.
During the Mashujaa day celebrations, President Uhuru Kenyatta celebrated different people in the country that made sure Kenya is a great country. These leaders included those who fought for the independence of the country like Dedan Kimathi.
However, the President went on and celebrated a 13 year old, Virginia Aoko, after rowing her pregnant mother on a dark night to a hospital successfully to receive maternal services. Personally, I think Virginia was worth it to be celebrated. Congratulations to her.
