Aspects of Developing Emotional Self Care

As I promised in the previous article that next time will will discuss about Emotional self care,  I will break it down today,

Well emotional self care can be defined as caring for your emotional needs by identifying and nurturing your Feelings, your conscious inner state and your intellect ( Emotionally resilient living).

You need to know that all emotions are important for our wellness, we can't live without them. But we experience hundreds of emotions and Feelings throughout the day and sometimes there are too many of them. Some my be familiar, while others are elicited by extraordinary circumstances like, personal injury, loss of loved ones e.t.c. When those overflowing emotions are unprocessed, they can make you feel overwhelmed and even depressed.

Why/what is the importance of practicing emotional self care?

1. We need to practice emotional self care    to lead to a happy and content life.

2. This can also help you grounded and not to be afraid to face all the challenges.

This generally work on enhancing emotional literacy, navigating emotions, increasing empathy and managing stress effectively.

Here are examples of emotional self cares u should take note of; 

1. Saying no

You may need to develop some emotional boundaries as your self-care and this may mean saying “no” to people that bring negativity into your life and literally say a big fat NO! to anything that doesn’t bring joy in to you.

2. Practicing self-compassion

The practice of self-compassion can help us avoid the trappings of self-limiting or destructive thought processes, like the critical inner voice, that often diminish our motivation or initiative. Findings show that self-compassion can reduce anxiety and actually help us make real changes in our lives. Also it reduces related depression.

3. Being aware of your emotional


It's important for us to have personal boundaries. Personal Boundaries are important because they set the basic guidelines of how you want to be treated. Boundaries are basic guidelines that people create to establish how others are able to behave around them. Healthy boundaries help us live in-tune with our desires, needs, and feelings and also, as a way for us to practice self-care and self-respect. 

2. Making time for reflecting our


Self-reflection can help you process your thoughts and feelings. When we keep our thoughts floating around in our heads, we only confuse or frustrate ourselves more. Getting your thoughts on paper can help you understand why you're feeling a certain way and make those feelings a little easier to navigate. In other words it is also essential to reflect the feelings and emotions expressed in order to more fully understand the message.
