An environment and the Land Court has issued an arrest warrant for Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his deportation to Shimo la Tewa prison. Alternatively, the court has provided him with Ksh. 250,000 fine for contempt of court.
On 21st May, Judge Munyao Sila condemned Joho's and Ogutu's acts, terming them as unheroic. He further urged the current leaders to set good examples suggesting that the punishment was meant to teach them a lesson. " Kenyans love peace and would live in a country where the leaders lead from the front in respecting the rule of law," judge Munyao added.
In 2019, Businessman Ashok Doshi filed a petition in court against Mombasa officials and high-ranking personnel for intruding in his piece of land and causing chaos and damage. He then obtained a letter exempting anyone from his land.
On the 10th of May 2019, Joho and Ogutu went against the court's orders and intruded in Ashok's parcel and caused further chaos and damage. This forces Ashok Doshi to return to court and file another petition.
