Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission CEO James Oswago is in deep mourning after his daughter succumbed to Leukemia. The news was shared after his lawyer asked the court to adjourn his trial on the Chickengate scandal.
Mr Oswago's lawyer Jotham Arua informed the court that his client had lost his daughter on Saturday and it was appropriate for him to be given time and mourn. He further requested the court to postpone the case not just for a day but a whole week.
“My client is bereaved and is currently busy preparing the burial. We cannot continue with the proceedings and we want adjournment not just for today but for the rest of the week,” said Mr Arua as quoted by a local media.
While allowing the adjournment, the Magistrate stated that it was not easy for a parent whenever they lose a child. The court also pushed the trial date to October 25 as it condoled with Oswago's family.
