A man who was found guilty of defiling a 16-year-old girl was sentenced to serve 10 years imprisonment without an option of paying fine by a Kilgoris court.
However, he had pleaded not guilty in court forcing the prosecution to produce five witnesses whose testimonies, the principal magistrate Robert Oanda said, proved beyond reasonable doubt that the man had defiled the young teenage girl.
Oanda said the sentence acts as a warning to the community cautioning men against seducing teenage girls who are still in school.
In mitigation, Orenge asked the court to forgive him saying he would not repeat such a heinous crime again.
The culprit was reminded of his right to lodge an appeal within 14 days if he was unsatisfied with the ruling.
The sentencing comes only a week after another man was sentenced to serve 10 years imprisonment without an option of paying fine for attempting to defile a 15-year-old girl.
Moses Kimotho committed the crime on 17 April 2020 at Lolgorian Township in Trans Mara West Sub County.
