Meru County: Middle Aged Woman Jailed For 15 Years For Chopping Off Husband's Genitals

A Maua magistrate's court yesterday condemned a mother of five to 15 years in jail after finding her guilty of trying to kill her husband by cutting off his genitalia.

Chief Magistrate Tito Gesora declared that the prosecution's evidence had established beyond a reasonable doubt that the lady attacked her husband with the intent to murder him.

On November 19, 2021, at Igembe North, Meru County, the offense was committed.

The lady allegedly assaulted her husband while he was sleeping and told the court she intended to murder him for refusing to share their miraa property.

The guy described his amazement at witnessing his wife hoist a panga over him at three in the morning, smacking his head and limb.

She seized a kitchen knife and severed a portion of his testicles while he writhed in agony. The 60-year-old miraa farmer attempted to sound the alarm but passed out.

The court was informed that his wife then made an effort to put an unknown drug down his throat.

James Kanampiu; a police constable who is the case investigator described the bloody crime scene.

He said that the area was covered with blood and that he discovered the severed body part in addition to the machete and knives that had been used in the assault.

The couple's youngster described to the court how she made a call for assistancewhich resulted in her father being saved and how she was then taken to Chaaria Mission hospital.

The victim revealed to the court, which was in a state of shock, that his wife had previously beaten him over a property dispute but he had refused to cave in to her demands because all of the children were still enrolled in school.

He declared that he did not believe the argument was significant enough to develop into a physical assault.

The lady defended herself by claiming that the incident was an accident and placing the blame on a mental disorder she battles.

When she found herself in police prison and was informed that she had attacked her husband, she claimed to the court that she was unaware of what she had done.
