Meru Azimio Leaders Protest After Martha Karua Rally

Mount Kenya region leaders led by Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi have strongly accused agriculture cabinet secretary peter Munya over divisive politics, a day after Martha Karua’s tour in the region that saw them skip.

Karua was in company of Kieni MP Kanini Kega, Sabina Chege, Jeremiah Kioni and Karanja Kibicho among others with Governor Kiraitu and MP Maoka Maorwe burying the hatchet.

Governor Kiraitu’s absence was as a result of the allegations they branded CS Munya with of secretly funding and holding meetings with Meru gubernatorial candidate Kawira mwangaza who is vying as an independent candidate.

Governor Kiraitu said that their agenda is to popularize the Azimio Coalition but indeed Munya is slowly dividing it.

This therefore saw the Devolution empowerment party executive director Haron Abuana, raise his claims, saying that Peter Munya and Mpuru Aburi cannot deliver to Raila Odinga and that he should respect the governor and other Azimio leaders as he is trying to kill the coalition from within.

“We are saddened by Munya’s recent moves aimed at killing the Coalition from within. The Governor and other Azimio leaders and aspirants in Meru must be respected and involved in all campaign activities in the region.” He said.

Kenya Kwanza governor candidate Mithika Linturi on the other side denounced CS Munya, where he advised him to focus on his job and leave politics for Politicians “Munya should focus on his job and leave politics to politicians. If he thinks he will deliver the Meru vote by excluding every other Azimio leader, he is greatly mistaken.”

Linturi added that Munya decided not to include other top Azimio leadership in organizing the Meru meeting. “We are not happy with his style of doing things. He decided not to involve the top Azimio leadership in Meru in organizing the meetings. Not even the Secretary General Maoka Maore or the County Governor were informed.”

The allegations may however see unsatisfied leaders withdraw from the coalition if unsatisfied and join other coalitions which is a big blow to Mr Odinga.
