In June 2018, President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed 128 parastatals heads which includes former Chief of defence forces Julius Karangi, former Governor Benjamin Cheboi and late former vice president George Saitoti's widow Margaret Saitoti, former Mombasa gubernatorial candidate Suluiman Shabhal, among others. They have been serving for there third term now.
The judges made the ruling saying the President did not follow due process of appointing these parastatals heads.
"The people of Kenya desired that parastatals appointment must be competitive, fair and transparent considering persons with disabilities and Kenya's diverse communities," the Judges ordered.
The appointment had been also challenged by the Katiba Institute and the Africa centre for open Governance (AfriCOG).
This ruling has just come out after some few weeks that Building bridges initiatives was also ruled out by the high court as unconstitutional.
