Former attorney general James Karugu is dead. He died yesterday night.
The sad news were confirmed by his family but they did not reveal details on the cause of death.
James Karugu died aged 86 and will be remembered as Kenya's second attorney general.
He was very famous in the 1970s when he was the deputy public prosecutor. In 1980 he was appointed by the then president Moi as the new attorney general. He succeeded Charles Njonjo in the office until 1981 when he also resigned from the position under unclear circumstances.
Charles Njonjo had resigned from the position to join politics.
Not much is known about his family including wife and kids. Details on burial preparations have also not yet been revealed to members of the public.
Our sincere condolences to his family members and friends during this hard period of mourning. May God rest his soul in eternal peace.
