Man Who Stormed Into Uganda's Parliament's Gate And Threatened To Set Himself Ablaze Put in Jail

On September 7th, 2021, a 33 years-old-man identified as Mr. Muhammed Amanyire stormed into the Uganda's Parliament's Gate in Kampala city and allegedly threatened to set himself ablaze. Before the worst could befall him, he was traced, arrested and held into custody while awaiting to be arraigned into the court for attempting suicide. Amanyire is said to be a musician and a National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporter.

Today 24th September, Amanyire appeared before the court where he said that he was trying to express his dissatisfaction against the NRM which he allegedly said was full of oppression and has inflicted a lot of sufferings to the people of Uganda.

Amanyire finally pleaded guilty of the offence before court Magistrate, Doreen Karungi.

Making her final judgements, Judge Doreen sent Amanyire to a one month jail for attempting to take away his life.
