The Republic of Kenya has witnessed the first-ever female Chief Justice in history as lady justice Martha come was appointed by the president, as the new Chief justice following the retirement of David Maraga.
The new Chief Justice will take over from Maraga who retired at the beginning of the year after attaining seventy years, the maximum age one can serve as the Chief Justice of Kenya.
Koome overwhelmed competition from men counterparts to take over the reign of the judiciary as the president of the judicial service commission.
The position entails its privileges and benefits ranging from allowances bonuses to their eye-watering salary packages.
Following the latest adjustments of salaries, Chief Justice is entitled to a basic salary of Sh 900,000 every month.
This does not include bonuses and allowances which will raise the total amount to Sh 1.3 million every month.
Chief Justice is required to serve a maximum of ten years or retire upon the attainment of seventy years. They may also apply for early retirement at the age of sixty-five.
