The International Association of Prosecutors has chosen Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji to represent Africa and the Indian Ocean Region (IAP).
The DPP will be able to push cutting-edge tactics to combat transnational organized crime (TOC) and improve regional and global cooperation and coordination in the prosecution of transnational organized crime as a member of the Executive Committee.
This was disclosed at the IAP 27th Annual Conference and general assembly, which was held this week in Tbilisi, Georgia.
DPP Haji expressed his gratitude for the appointment and promised to increase global cooperation in the pursuit of TOC.
“The election of the DPP and the awarding of the office is an acknowledgement of the important place that Kenya occupies in the international criminal justice arena,” he said.
In addition, Haji was given a certificate of appreciation for hosting the East Africa Association of Prosecutors (EAAP) conference and the fourth Africa and Indian Ocean region in Mombasa at the beginning of the year.
Haji received the International Commission of Jurists of Kenya's Jurist of the Year award in December of the previous year (ICJ).
Kenya's significant position in the international criminal justice system is acknowledged by the election of the DPP and the awarding of the office.
He was honored for his leadership vision in making the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions one of Kenya's most accessible and independent agencies for the country's citizens.
