High Court Makes Final Ruling on Blocking Sakaja's Gubernatorial Bid Over Degree

This morning, the High Court dismissed a complaint challenging Johnson Sakaja's candidacy for governor based on his academic credentials.

According to Justice Anthony Mrima, there was no evidence that Sakaja engaged in deception by presenting a degree from Team University, Uganda

Nonetheless, in delivering the verdict, the judge remarked that the problem of academic falsification will persist until law enforcement agencies crack down on the perpetrators.

"The IEBC has no authority to authenticate diplomas. "The Court finds no basis to assign IEBC additional responsibilities," the court stated.

Mrima decided on Tuesday, July 12: "There was no conclusive proof presented by the complainant because the quality of the material does not support the criminal claims."

This is good news to Sakaja, who will be vying for Nairobi county gubernatorial bid in August elections.

DP Ruto,Sakaja had claimed the plans to block him from running for governor was the work of the deep state.
