Employment And Labour Relations Court Suspends The Interdiction Of IEBC Deputy CEO Ruth Kulundu

Court suspends interdiction of <a class=IEBC Deputy CEO, Kulundu"/>

Ruth Khatievi Kulundu's detention by the IEBC Deputy Commission Secretary responsible for operations has been halted by the Employment and Labour Relations court as reported by Citizen Digital.

The decision to detain Kulundu on September 19, 2022 made by Marjan Hussein Marjan; the chief executive officer and secretary of the election commission has been put on hold by the court.

Additionally, it suspended any further disciplinary actions against Kulundu pending the hearing and resolution of a complaint made by Kulundu against the IEBC CEO, Chairman, Attorney General and all commissioners. The complaint was filed by Kulundu against the IEBC CEO, Chairman, Attorney General and all commissioners.

Kulundu makes claims in her petition that the CEO overstepped his authority when he intervened and began the disciplinary process against her and that she has been the target of intimidation, harassment, and victimization.

She continues by saying that, contrary to what is expected, a minority of the commissioners made the decision to interdict her rather than a majority.

The inter-partes hearing date was scheduled by Justice Dr. Jacob Gakeri for October 24, 2022.
