Names Of Six Judges Left Out In Uhuru's Appointment And The Reasons For Not Being Appointed

The head of state President Uhuru Kenyatta's appointment of 34 new judges seems to have received a stumbling block after a petition being filed in court.

The petition filed on Friday morning, just a day after the president had gazetted the appointments is seeking to have the appointments revoked.

According to Katiba institute, a lobby group, the president was supposed to appoint all the 40 judges who had been recommended by the Judicial service commission.

The lobby group further argues that by leaving out the six judges from the appointments, the president undermined the authority of the Judiciary.

Moreover, the constitutional rights of the 6 judges will also stand violeted should the JSC proceeds to swear them in.

The six judges in question include: Justice Weldon Korir, Justice Aggrey Muchelule, Justice Joel Ngugi and Justice George Odunga who were set to join the court of appeal.

Justice Odunga and Justice Ngugi took part in nulfying the Building Bridges Initiative, a reason that must have provokes the head of state to leave them out in his appointments.

The other two appointments were to the magistrate's court.
