Supreme Court Judges of Kenya and Their Academic Profiles

The supreme court of Kenya is the highest in the land and is responsible for hearing and determining many petitions top including the election petitions. Kenya has just concluded her August elections. The IEBC commission incharge of elections has just announced William Ruto as the winner of the presidential polls. The Azimio la Umoja coalition has threatened to challenge the election results at the highest court of land, the supreme court. Here with me are the profiles of the Seven Judges of the Supreme court who are the highest determiners of the presidential case.

1.Hon.Justice William Ouko:

Ouko has been serving in the judiciary for over 34 years. He is an alumnus of the University of Nairobi where he studied a bachelor of laws. He also has a diploma in Legal practice from the Kenya school of law and a masters of arts degree in criminology and criminal justice.

2.Hon.Justice Isaac Lenaola

He studied Law at the University of Nairobi as well as having additional training from the Kenya school of Law. He practiced law at the peoples commission of Kenya.

3.Hon.Justice Dr.Smokin Wanjala:

He was appointed a judge of the supreme court in the year 2011. He also serves as the director of the Kenya Judiciary Academy. He holds a bachelor of laws degree from the UON as well as a diploma in law from the Kenya school of law. Additionally, he has a masters in law from Columbia university as well as a doctorate in law from the University of Ghent, Belgium.

4.Hon. Justice Njoki Susanna Ndung'u.

She holds a diploma in women rights, a degree in law and a masters in law degree.

5.Hon.Justice Mohammed Ibrahim:

Mohammed is the man directly involved with elections. He is the chairperson of the judiciary committee on elections. He studied law at the university of Nairobi.

6.Hon. Lady Justice Philomena Mbete Mwilu.

She is the vice president of the supreme court of Kenya as well as the deputy chief justice. She has over 37 years experience as a legal professional. She has a degree and a masters in law from the University of Nairobi

7.Hon.Justice Martha Koome, EGH

She is the president of the supreme court of Kenya as well as the 15th chief justice of the republic. She holds a bachelor of laws from the UON , a post graduate diploma from the Kenya school of law and a LLM degree from the University of London.
