Bible Thief: Nairobi Man Accused Of Stealing Bible Worth ksh1840 From Supermarket Brought To Justice

A middle-aged man was brought to justice and charged with stealing a bible from the Naivas supermarket worth Ksh 1840.

Augustine Wanyoni, who was arrested in the Milimani court in Nairobi, is accused of stealing on November 29, 2021 from the Naivas Supermarket Development House along Moi Avenue in Nairobi two revised bibles worth Ksh 1840 .

According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, Wanyoni entered the supermarket around 7:00 p.m. where he acted as a customer before stealing the holy books.

"He chose two revised standard Bibles worth 920 Ksh each," part of the report reads.

It is alleged that after picking up said Bible books, the accused hid them in his jacket and passed the cashier's table without paying.

Security personnel at the supermarket became suspicious and arrested him. They then searched him and retrieved the two Bibles in his jacket and were then escorted to the central police station.

The accused pleaded not guilty before Chief Magistrate Wendy Mucheni and was granted a cash bond of Ksh 20,000 or an alternative bond of a similar amount.
