Safaricom Suffers a huge blow as the court directs it to pay the following former Safaricom workers. Safaricom company benefits its customers in different offers, actually Safaricom gives its customers free minutes, free data among others. Also Safaricom through Mpesa customers are able to save their money in their Mpesa accounts, equally Safaricom offers loans to its customers through Mshwari, Fuliza among others. Also some Banks offer their services through Safaricom network like Co-operative Bank, Kenya Commercial Bank among others.
However Safaricom has now suffered a huge blow as the court directs it to pay the following former Safaricom workers. The Employment And Labour Relations Court awarded the former Safaricom senior managers Sh7.2 million for wrongful dismissal. According to Justice James Rika, the termination of Charles Mueme Munuve and Mary Rono was unfair and not based on valid reasons, therefore Safaricom Company was directed by court to pay Mr. Munuve Sh2.8 million and Ms Rono Sh4.22 million equivalent to eight and seven months gross salary in compensation for unfair termination from the job. This sounds as bad news to Safaricom company.
