According to African customs and traditions, every man has to pay a dowry if he wants to marry. The dowry he handed to the woman's family to whom he intends to get married.
However, Mr. Wilberforce Saenyi Murunga surprised many when he moved to the court seeking a refund of his dowry. He had paid Sh50,000, three Ayrshire heifers, one cross Ayrshire bullock, one she-goat, one pair of gumboots, and a hat in 2019.
Murunga claims that his ex-wife had promised him that she would drop the case, but his drive to see it through kept him continuing, "and I think that everyone is equal before the law regardless of your standing." However, a court in Kitale ordered that three cows, a she-goat, and Sh20, 000 be given back to Mr. Murunga.
"In light of this, I am ecstatic and grateful. It's a miracle that I won this case because the aggressor is a lawyer, "Murunga told the Nation of his remarks.
