The existence of a fuel station at Longisa County Referral Hospital in Bomet has raised eyebrows among county assembly, leading to summoning of County Executive Committee Member for Medical Services and Public Health, Dr Joseph Sitonik.
Dr Joseph has been summoned after question concerning the fuel station at the hospital was raised in the county assembly by Kembu ward MCA, Hon Bernard Langat on the legality and safety of the station and the procurement process.
Contrary to this, Bomet County governor Hillary Barchok defended the hospital administration speculating that the fuel tank can be used for storage of diesel so that motor vehicles and and other health facilities (ambulances, standby generators and incinerator) be refuelled in case they run short of fuel.
The fuel station was presided over by governor Barchok on 21st September, 2022. It is situated few metres from the main entrance to the hospital, opposite a blood bank store, CT scan equipment and vaccines stores.
