A young man from Kakamega County in Nabakholo subcounty known by the name Ian Wanjala has told the court the truth, about why he has been smoking bhang and planting it despite the substance being illegal in the country according to the laws of the land.
Speaking during his court case hearing in Kakamega magistrate court, Wanjala told the court that the reason why he has been smoking and planting bhang is because the substance helps him to get more strength to till his land.
He argued that he has no regret with smoking bhang because it gives him a lot of strength to till his land and plant food for his family. Therefore according to him, he sees no danger of bhang and he chose to use it to help him till his land instead of engaging in crime. Wanjala was arrested with bundles of bhang worth Ksh20,000 and he is accused of having about 144 plantations within Nabhakholo subcounty.
