A court in Nyamira County has sentenced a 25-year-old woman to 15years behind bars, after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting (fingering) her employer's 2-year-old girl.
She confessed how she used to insert her fingers into the minor's private parts while under her care on separate days and thereafter used spirit to treat the bruises suffered. Keen not to be caught, she could give her victim sweets in exchange for her silence.
Hell broke loose when the minor's the grandmother checked her private parts and discovered visible injuries after which they reported the matter to the police.
The baby was taken to Borabu Sub County Hospital where she was treated and it was established that she was sexually assaulted.
During the mitigation, the nanny told the court that she accepted her faults, and pleaded for lenience since she has no parents and also has a young baby who depends on her for upkeep.
She vowed not to repeat a similar offence in the future.
