Nelson Havi Protests Jemator Swearing In, Cites An Active Court Order In Place

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission is in the process of recruiting new commissioners as per the gazette notice issued by president Uhuru Kenyatta.

The Law Society of Kenya president Nelson Havi is displeased a bout Dorothy Jemator Representing LSK citing that she is a state appointee.

Jemator is on a list of the recruiters that were unveiled by president Kenyatta through a gazette notice dated 26th April 2021.

"We cannot have Jemator to represent LSK at the IEBC commissioners selection panel, she doesn't represent our interests" stated Havi

Havi further claimed that Jemator has two state appointments therefore it is illegal for her to act for LSK.

Others on the panel include Gideon Solonka, Elizabeth Muli, Awori Achoka, Elizabeth Meyo, Joseph Ngumbi and Suleiman Abdalla.

Havi had earlier proposed Morris Kimuli to represent the law society of Kenya at the IEBC selection panel but his request was rejected with no explanation.

It is not yet clear whether Jemator's candidature will be cancelled following the high court order barring her from participating in the recruitment process.
