What is Power of Attorney?

There are instances where one is based abroad and you are unable to conduct transactions for yourself. What do you do in such a Scenario? You appoints another person to act on your behalf. This can be done legally using a Power of Attorney.

Transactions that can be conducted using a power of Attorney include transactions in sale of land, Registration of intellectual property, Filing of cases in Court, Signing of documents and even opening Bank accounts.

Nature of a Power of Attorney ;

It can be specific of general. This is to mean, if it specific, it is limited to a certain transaction and once that is done, the Power of Attorney is revoked. 

Legality;

In Kenya, the Power of Attorney must be signed by both parties in the transaction, executed and registered. But before registration, one must pay for stamp Duty as dully required by Law. Registration is under the Registration of Documents Act.
