As per the article written on internet by Paul Ogena and Kamau Muthoni on August 20th 20121, this is a brief description on the seven judges that are to make a final judgement on BBI today.
1. Lady Justice Roselyne Naliaka
She was born in Bungoma county 1952. The first female magistrate and ultimately first female chief magistrate. Naliaka was also on a three judge bench that found out MPs should not manage the Constituency Development Funds among other cases. With this knowledge then she can rightly come up with the best BBI ruling.
He was admitted to a bar in 1988. He joined the judiciary in 2003 and in 2011 crowned as the jurist of the year. In May 2011 he was elected president court of appeal by persuant to article 164(2).
3. Lady justice Hannah Okwengu
Okwengu graduated with bachelor of law degree from the University of Nairobi in 1979. He worked as land registrar in Mombasa before moving to the municipal council of Mombasa where she worked as an advocate. Among other judges she opposed the lowering the age of consent for sex to 16 years.
4. Judge Patrick Kiage.
He is a court of appeal judge. Admitted to a role of advocates in 1993 and has since handled a number of higher profile criminal cases. He was against sharing of 50-50 of matrimonial property after a devorce.
5. Justice Kairu Gatembu
Born in 1960. Graduated with a law degree in the University of Nairobi in 1984. Also studied at Boston University. He has taught Commercial law at the University of Nairobi since 1990.
6. Lady Justice Fatuma Sichale
Born in 1958. Together with Martha koome Ang retired judge Frastus Githinji issued an order suspending High court judgement on the eve of the 2017 repeat presidential election.
7. Judge Francis Turgott.
He is among those who were appointed recently as judges in the Court of Appeals. Sat in a three judge bench that made a landmark judgement Mombasa Republic Council.
With the experience these seven have ,then the ruling on BBI is expected to be fair and transparent. The seven judges are led by Kenyan Chief Justice Martha Koome.
