"Reggae Hasn't Stopped Yet" BBI Appeal Moves to Supreme Court to Overturn Court of Appeal Decision

Today the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) moved its appeal to the Supreme Court this is after a ruling by the Court of Appeal that declared the BBI document unfit by a five bench judge and that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s attempt to change the Constitution through the BBI process was unconstitutional.

The Supreme Court bench chairing the BBI appeal consists of Martha Koome (CJ), Philomena Mwilu (DCJ), Justices William Ouko, Smokin Wanjala, Ibrahim Mohammed, Njoki Ndungu, and Isaac Lenaola that will oversee the submission of case by appellants on the ruling handed by Court of Appeal.

The appeal led by Attorney General (AG) Kihara Kariuki, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), and the BBI secretariats seek to overturn the August,20th judgement which stopped the constitution review exercise by declaring the bill unconstitutional.

According to AG Kihara in his findings, he is challenging the ruling that civil proceedings can be instituted against the President during the tenure of office, in respect of anything done or not done, contrary to the Constitution.

The bill is still alive and hope for the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga to foresee the implementation of the BBI document.
