Yesterday evening, the opposition leader Raila Odinga threatened to lead Kenyans for massive demonstrations against President William Ruto's government over the already initiated motion to ouster four IEBC Commissioners who revoked Ruto's presidential win in the August polls.
The petition was filed weeks ago and is set to be heard and determined today. The four commissioners led by Juliana Cherera are also expected to appear before the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee ahead of the hearing.
Raila Odinga had argued that President Ruto should consider focusing on delivering his promises instead of punishing those who did not support his candidature. According to Raila, the protests are to begin this month in major cities before extending to towns and grassroots.
Reports have now emerged that demonstrations are currently ongoing at Parliament buildings, Nairobi county over the same. Led by Bunge La Mwananchi president Calvin Okoth Gaucho, a section of Kenyans have now demanded that the move to kick out the four IEBC Commissioners should be stopped with immediate effect, terming it an illegal process.
