Nelson Havi: 2 Critical Skills One Must Be Having When Appearing Before Court Of Appeal

The President of the Law Society of Kenya Nelson Havi has highlighted the 2 critical skills that one must be having today whenever appearing before the Court of Appeal.

The two are Summary and Patience. According to Havi, the court gives you a time of 5 to 10 minutes to argue a 1,500 page Record of an Appeal. At that time, another judge is assigned to interject every minute while reminding you that time is running.

Here, summary is a short term argument while patience is ability to tolerate or accept any delay that might come out during a case hearing. Within that short period, one is supposed to learn how to give the best summary that leads to the outshine of the case.

However from some comments of some lawyer's like Esther Ang'awa, the Court of Appeal is just killing trial advocacy.
