NTV reports that the group of demonstrators were being led by area MP John Bwire as they stormed the disputed land and started pulling down erected fence posts
According to the publication, at least two people sustained serious injuries during the operation
"Taita Taveta: Two people have been seriously injured after police intervened in a demonstration in Orkungu village; hundreds of protesters led by area MP John Bwire stormed and confronted "an investor" over a land grabbing saga," NTV said in part
In the video, police officers were spotted using their hands as well as guns as they lobbed teargas canisters at the demonstrators.
