FGM must stop Jebidii Kilimo says

Public service and gender C.A.S DrJebii Kilimo speaking during the opening of a two-day workshop in Bomet on the operationalization off intergovernmental consultation framework for agenda steering committee with different stakeholders .Jebii Kilimo noted that Bomet is among the county's still practicing female genital mutilation which is an a archaic tradition that is time past. Reports indicate that the county has recorded many cases of female genital mutilation among married women and gender-based relation cases in recent times. Statistics from the corridors of Justice indicate that dozens of the perpetrators have been nabbed and charged alongside their victims according to the anti female genital mutilation laws.

The C.A.S affirmed that the ministry will work together with the county government to ensure that by 2020 20 cases of female genital mutilation will be reported in the region. She also want people who are hiding a cross-cultural Myths supporting that young mothers should go through the blade to make them accepted in Society terming it a retrogressive culture. She also talked about cases of people committing suicide.she noted that there is a need for stakeholders from both national and county government to come up with a mental health and counseling program to fight the situations of committing suicide.
