It is now clear that the journey to meet the dreams of our beloved Kenya through the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) is almost vanishing. This is based on the fact that BBI has gone through a lot of criticism despite commanding a strong support from the heavy political figures such as president Uhuru Kenyatta and former prime minister Raila Odinga.
Last week, the High Court ruling executed by a five-bench judges indicated that BBI was not done according to the constitution such as the steering committee which was deemed as an unconstitutional outfit. After being rejected, Attorney General Kihara Kariuki filed an appeal case concerning the ruling made on BBI.
What has fascinated most people is that the same Attorney General has today withdrawn his application that was supposed to ensure BBI judgement made by the High Court judges is appealed and reviewed according.
The painful story here is that funds which were used to fund the entire process of BBI will have done nothing meaningful once it is done away with. Tens of millions of money were channeled to the BBI project such as facilitating it's campaigns, paying the steering committee members among other heft expenses.
Those who benefitted from BBI should be called upon to return all the money so that it is used for other meaningful activities. Returning funds used for the BBI project will be worthwhile as it will help grow many undeveloped areas in Kenya.
