10 Years For Kilifi Taekwondo Coach Who Defiled Minor & Sought Herbalist to Procure Abortion

Onesmus Safari Ngao, a renowned Taekwondo coach, who defiled a minor and engaged a herbalist to procure abortion has his sentence of a 10-year jail term upheld by the Court. Ngao was jailed in 2018 after the court found him guilty of the heinous act.

It was the second time Ngao was attempting to secure his freedom but hit a snag after Court of Appeal judges, Wanjiru Karanja, Daniel Musinga and Stephen Gatembu, in Malindi declined to overturn the sentence that was imposed on him by a Magistrate Court three years ago.

“In our view, therefore, all the necessary ingredients that required proof on a charge of defilement were satisfied. We find no merit in this appeal and dismiss it in its entirety,” the judges said.

Ngao had lured a 15-year-old girl who was one of his students learning martial arts. He booked her in a different room where he committed the act on the night of November 20, 2015. After medicine failed to terminate her pregnancy Ngao sought the help of a herbalist.
