The much anticipated Building Bridges Initiative appeal that was tabled at the Supreme court of Kenya is set to be read by the justice Martha Koome led bench on March 31st of this year. This is a slight shift from the scheduled April 1 which justice Koome and the bench had announced after the conclusion of submissions from both parties Counsels.
The BBI constitutional amendment bill was challenged in the High Court by lobby groups who argued that the process and initiators were in contravention of the constitution. The High Court judges unanimously rejected the bill on the basis of structure, process and constitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

The bill initiators Mr Dennis Waweru and Hon Junet Mohammed moved to the Court of appeal to challenge the ruling. Justice Daniel Musinga and his seven judge bench again threw the bill under the bed which forced the initiators to move to the supreme court. All eyes will now be on Martha Koome and her bench on what the ruling will be.
