When President William Ruto met a lawyer who took him to court over state appointments, there was laughter at the launch of the 2021/2022 Administration of Justice in Kenya Annual Report. Kenya (LSK) President Eric Theuri sued Ruto over the nomination of Principal Secretaries (PSs), a case that the President won.
Ruto said that he was impressed to see Theuri in the meeting, even though he had taken Theuri to court.
"I am pleased to see my friend Theuri and I appreciate that it is how the wheels of justice operate," he said.
In contrast to Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga, who is organizing demonstrations after losing a petition case, Theuri has moved on.I'm glad that he hasn't threatened to hold protests because he lost the case.
"It is acceptable to sue me or the government."We leave that to the judiciary to decide," Ruto stated, "if you have a matter and I lose, it means I was wrong."
As you can see in this video, his remarks sent the rest of the audience into fits of laughter.
