Interior PS Karanja Kibicho And AG Kihara Risk Jail Term Over Contempt Of Court

The Interior Principal Secretary Dr Karanja Kibicho and the Attorney General Mr Paul Kihara are yet again found themselves on the wrong side of the law. The court had yesterday, 18th October ordered the two to appear before it to answer inquiries on the shooting incidence on Mombasa road and the contempt of court.

The shooting incidence which occured on 24th September 2009 left Edward Ng'ang'a Kuria dead. Edward was driving on Mombasa-Nairobi highway at the time of the incidence.The police were accused of unlawfully carrying out the act.

According to the publication on the local newspaper, the court was informed that the PS and the AG were willing to pay some amounts in force of compensation by September 20 but the payment was not yet processed by 28th of the same month.

The summoning arose after the government failed to honour its pledge of paying sh.5.3 million in compensation to Lucy Nduta Ng'ang'a who had sued the state over the death of her relative. On this same matter that the presiding judge, justice John Mativo directed the two government officials to present themselves to court.

"On July 29, the court ordered Mr. Kibicho and the AG to appear before it. The order remains in force. The said persons are required to appear in court on November 2 at 8 am, " Judge mativo's statement reads
