Gicheru was found unconscious in his bedroom on the evening of September 26 and declared dead by medics who were called in to resuscitate him.

Prior to his death, Gicheru was awaiting the ICC verdict in a few weeks on whether he was guilty of bribing witnesses that were to testify in the collapsed trial of President Ruto.

Doctors from the Karen Hospital who toured his house at 7 pm on Monday after getting wind of his death from a neighbour found the lawyer unresponsive on a sofa set upstairs.

They rushed him out of the floor where they administered first aid.

He died age 52, and his family reported did not have any serious illness and often left his house in the upscale Northwood Villas on Miotoni Lane in Karen, where the monthly rent is Sh400,000.

His wife Ruth, and househelp Dorcas, mourned him as a calm and hardworking man who was not easy to read his mind.
