The president of the republic of Kenya, Dr. William Ruto, and the attorney general, Mr. Kihara Kariuki, have reportedly been sued by a Kenyan over his appointment of Mr. Japheth Koome as the inspector general of police, according to some recent reports that surfaced this evening.
According to The Nation Africa, this Kenyan, a doctor by training, sued Dr. William Ruto and Kihara today, claiming that their nomination was illegal. He asserts that the National Police Service Commission is responsible for the nomination process and that the only thing he can do is appoint one of the candidates. The court will decide his case, and if he prevails, the President's candidate might not succeed him as Inspector General.
"Trauma and general surgeon Dr. Magare Gikenyi claims the President's action is illegal and unconstitutional because the National Police Service Commission should be the one to nominate the Inspector General (NPSC). He claims that Dr. Ruto violated the law by using NPSC authority to nominate Mr. Koome and by preventing the legal process from being followed." the reports claimed.
