A night worker has been charged with assaulting a colleague who was charging low prices for her services.
Mariam Imodia appeared before Mombasa Senior principal magistrate Vincent Adet and pleaded guilty to charges of causing actual bodily harm to Gladys Ahela. The court heard that on the day in question, Ahela had relocated to the Saba Saba area within the Mombasa Central Business District due to an influx of visitors during the festive season. However, Imodia was upset about the low prices that Ahela was charging and the number of clients she was receiving.
The magistrate ordered Ahela to tell the court her side of the story. Ahela said that Imodia had attacked her verbally and physically on several occasions. Imodia admitted to the court that she had assaulted Ahela because she felt that Ahela's low prices had made her and the other night workers jobless. The magistrate ordered Imodia to be released on a cash bail of Ksh5,000 and allowed the two parties two weeks to try and resolve the matter.
