Ngirici Set To Withdrew The Case Challenging Anne Waiguru Election

Purity Wangui Ngirici, a former Kirinyaga Woman Representative, informed Kerugoya High Court Presiding Judge Richard Mwongo of her intention to rescind her case challenging the election of Governor Anne Waiguru.

Ngirici was granted permit to Withdraw the case in court within Seven days.“The court has given us time to file that application…7 days. We will file the application and serve upon the respondents, and then the respondents will respond to the application and we'll come back on the 24th of this month. If the court allows that, then we will withdraw the petition, if it does not, we will proceed,” Khaemba noted.

The legal team for Waiguru, lead by advocate Kamotho Waiganjo, expressed satisfaction with Ngirici's decision to drop the lawsuit.

In a later statement, Ngirici said that despite intense pressure to drop the lawsuit, she had made the decision to do so in order to maintain services for Kirinyaga's residents rather than because she had the facts or reasons necessary to carry the petition through to its conclusion."I have decided to take a bold step, one that does not serve to advantage me or disorganize and disenfranchise the Governor but one that serves the full advantage to the people of Kirinyaga,” Ngirici stated.
