JUST IN: EACC Freezes Sh88,807,473.67 Assets Owned By Ex-Machakos CEC Member

The High Court has granted EACC orders freezing Sh88,807,473.67 worth of allegedly unlawfully acquired assets from the Machakos County Government.

Assets purportedly acquired by a former CEC member for Agriculture, Food Security and Cooperative Development were placed on hold pending the outcome of a recovery suit that was filed on May 12, 2022 and their availability for use is now unknown.

The CEC member is accused of obtaining Sh91,202,892 while serving as the chairman of the Machakos County Tender Committee and is seeking to reclaim that money through the lawsuit.

According to EACC the member traded with the County at the time through a number of businesses that were either owned by or connected to him.

According to EACC Head of Corporate Affairs and Communication, Eric Ngumbi This recovery lawsuit in court originates from an inquiry into allegations of conflict of interest and unexplained riches against Musyoka.

The anti-graft organization discovered during the investigations that between 2013 and 2015, the CEC member granted tenders to the businesses while serving as the chair of the now-defunct Tender Committee for the County Government of Machakos.
