After Raila Odinga presided over the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance Parliamentary Group meeting yesterday at Kalonzo Musyoka's Command Centre in Karen, reports have emerged that there is a probability of the team having a parallel Jamhuri Day Celebrations with the one which will be presided by President William Ruto.
The reports came after Raila called off the pro-Cherera public rallies which were to kick off today Wednesday November 30th, at Kamukunji Grounds as the team protested move to oust the 4 commissioners of IEBC; Juliana Cherera, Irene Masit, Justus Nyang'aya and Francis Wanderi.
The today's protest where however postponed to December 7th, with the camp saying that the reason was to give a calm environment to students sitting for their national examinations.
Speaking with K24 TV, Governance Expert Charles Kipkulei argued that Raila's plan of having a parallel Jamhuri Day celebrations slated for December 12 is a bad idea, misplaced and should be criticized.
"That idea of Azimio on Jamhuri Day is misplaced because the place of who and how to celebrate national holidays is prescribed not only in law but in the transitions of our country."
"There is how we do things and sometimes promoting some behaviors outside what we do or what is prescribed promotes tendencies towards anarchy because what do you want to achieve by doing such," posed Kipkulei.
