According to reports, Dennis who is a qualified software engineer interfered with the company's Fuliza Mpesa system and increased his friend's fuliza limits to Kshs 100,000 from Kshs 3,500.
It was reported that he requested phone numbers from 14 friends and performed the offense. The his friends utilized their limits and threw away the sim cards leaving Safaricom counting losses amounting to Kshs 1.4 million.
Mutethia's act is a cyber crime which is punishable under the law. The incident comes barely a month after another young man from Transmara was arrested after stealing more than Kshs 1 million from Kenyan banks remotely after hacking into their systems.
