Details Emerge As First Witness In The Arror & Kimwarer Dams Project Scandal Was Presented In Court

The Arrow and Kimwarer Dams scam, in which billions of dollars were stolen, has recently been updated by the Director of Public Prosecutions' office.

According to the most recent information available, the first prosecution witness, Charity Mui, was cross-examined today at Milimani Anti-Corruption Court in the multi-billion dams project case.

Charity informed Chief Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi that the defendants plotted to float tenders for the two projects and give them to CMC di Ravenna- Itinera Joint Ventures, even though the business did not submit a bid.

The witness was the committee secretary for the KVDA Adhoc Technical & Evaluation Tendering Committee, which reviewed tender documents for the two projects. Special Prosecutor and Senior Counsel Taib Ali Taib has assembled a team of 32 witnesses to provide the prosecution's side of the case.

For the multi-purpose dam projects at Arror and Kimwarer, ex-Treasury CS Henry Kiplagat Rotich, ex-MD, KVDA David Kimosop, and 7 others have been charged with conspiracy to defraud the Government of Kenya of USD 501,829,769.43 (Ksh 56,360,501,604.99). Political opponents have attempted to link President William Ruto to the scandals, which he has repeatedly rejected.
