A family in Kirindo, Siaya County, is calling for justice after 73-year-old man was hacked to death during dinner.
Two unidentified men armed with sharp pangas raided the house of the elderly man and attacked them at around 7pm.
He believed that the armed suspects must have been around the compound without the consent of their grandfather.
He noted that the family it is in shock how the armed assailants forced themselves in abruptly.
"My grandma Ann Otako was serving food from the kitchen and bringing it to the house before the criminals hit her with a panga on her way back to the kitchen to bring more food and she fell down and broke her leg," said Amoth.
He added that the grand woman fled and hid under the table.
"They later proceeded to the sitting room and attacked my grandfather on his head. The suspects then fled," said Amoth.
Neighbours who gathered at the scene rushed the two victims to Sega hospital. Otako was pronounced dead on arrival at the Siaya County Referral, where he was transferred for specialized treatment. His sweetheart still receiving treatment at Sega.
Yesterday, the family disclosed they believed the incident was a retaliatory attack from a section of locals they took to the police after they were beaten mercilessly in the year 2020.
