The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party has delayed its planned demonstrations in support of the four IEBC Commissioners who are facing criticism because of the ongoing national exams. The commissioners are Francis Wanderi, Justus Nyang'aya, Irene Masit, and Juliana Cherera.
The decision was made during a meeting of the Parliamentary Group on Tuesday, which was also attended by Raila Odinga of the Azimio and Kalonzo Musyoka of the Wiper, two leaders of the coalition parties.
The opposition group announced that it had decided to push back the protests until December 7, 2022 because it had listened to parents' worries about the national exams and complied with their requests.
“We have decided to reschedule the start of our public engagements from November 30 to December 7 this year due to the ongoing national examinations. We have listened keenly to the appeals of parents and our school-going children and we have decided to obey their wishes,” said Opiyo Wandayi.
