DCJ Philomena Indirectly Hits at President Uhuru Over His Attacks on Judiciary, Passes a Message

A few months ago, President Uhuru Kenyatta launched scathing attacks against Judiciary over the High Court decision to stop the BBI process.

Uhuru said that the Judiciary was overstepping on their mandate and wondered how they could reject people's popular initiative.

Today, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu indirectly hit President Uhuru over his relentless attacks on Judiciary and the Executive's interference.

Mwilu said that the independence of the various arms of government is very important to Kenya's constitutional democracy. She added that all workers who dispense justice are all partners under the same rule.

Mwilu added that enough evidence makes the court decides where its decisions lies and they cannot convict without evidence. She urged all bodies dealing with justice to do their work so that the Judiciary can do theirs also.

In what could be a direct statement to the Executive interference, Mwilu said that the 2010 constitution does not intend to frustrate them while delivering some duties.
