Mourners gathered at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret to pick up the body of slain LGBTQ activist Edwin Chiloba ahead of his burial. Chiloba will be buried at his father's home in Sergoit village, Elgeyo Marakwet.

In the photos shared by Nation on Facebook, the mourners, most of whom were dressed in black, were seen overwhelmed with emotions as they picked up his body. One of the mourners was carrying Chiloba's portrait and he could not hold back his tears.

A short prayer was conducted before the body was moved from the morgue for his final resting place. Chiloba was brutally murdered and his body dumped along the road in Uasin Gishu County.

His alleged male lover Jackton Odhiambo is the prime suspect in the brutal murder. Odhiambo was arrested alongside four other suspects who are believed to have helped him dispose of the body.

The court allowed police to hold the suspects for 21 days as an investigation into the brutal murder continues. Below are photos of Chiloba's body leaving the morgue.
